About
As part of On Difference 2 – a one-year collaborative project among 4 European art organizations, InterSpace Media Art Center will organize a series of local events eyeballing the cultural and socio-political situation in Bulgaria. The project takes a focused look at critical practices of art and culture, concerned with social, political, economic and/or urbanistic developments.
The aim of the local events is to further develop the main activity of the project – a 3-month exhibition in Wurttembergischer Kunstverein that has been developed through close collaboration of 6 curators from Budapest, Sofia, Ljubljana, New Delhi, Seoul and Rio de Janeiro, each creating an independent exhibition section. On Difference 2 co-organizers are Wurttembergischer Kunstverein (Stuttgart, Germany), InterSpace Media Art Center (Sofia, Bulgaria), Skuc Gallery (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Trafo (Budapest, Hungary).
This project is supported by the Culture 2000 Programme of the European Union.
The associated partner of the local events is Goethe Institut-Sofia.
The primary aims of the On Difference 2 project are to explore these very actual issues and provoke the local artistic community, especially the youngest generation, to respond to these topics. This is a good opportunity to further develop the presentations and discussions started by the big exhibition in Stuttgart. The local events in Sofia include a call for video works and a screening of these works during a thematic seminar.
